Festive Holiday Centerpiece

Grace your holiday table with a delightful homemade centerpiece that is as fragrant as it is festive.

What you’ll need:

  • 1 block of oasis floral foam for fresh flowers
  • 1 low, flat container
  • Waterproof floral tape
  • Sprigs of greenery such as pine, fir, and incense cedar
  • Pinecones and Christmas balls
  • 3 yards ribbon for bow
  • 6 or 7 pieces of floral wire
  • Wire cutters

Instructions

  1. Soak floral foam in water.
  2. Place foam in container. If necessary, use a kitchen knife to trim the foam to fit.
  3. Trim top of foam leaving about 1½” above the rim of the container.
  4. Apply two or three strips of waterproof floral tape across top of foam and secure to sides of container.
  5. Start placing stems in foam straight out from edge of container working in a clockwise fashion. Keep adding layers of greenery, angling each layer up as you go until you reach the top.
  6. Design tip: With mixed evergreen centerpieces, you want to mix colors and textures as you place the greenery in your container so they look blended.
  7. Make a bow from your ribbon and use the wire to secure to the top of your arrangement.
  8. Wrap wires around pine cones and Christmas balls (unless you have pre-wired ones), and add to your arrangement.
  9. Remember to keep adding water to your centerpiece and enjoy it well into the New Year!
