Our local food banks need healthy, fresh food. You can help.
Last summer, generous gardeners in our community donated over 2,200 pounds of just-picked herbs, fruit and vegetables to help those in need. The fresh produce was dropped off at Molbak's and promptly delivered to food banks in Totem Lake and Redmond by Hopelink. This year, we hope to share even more healthful food with the hungry in our area, and you can help by participating in Molbak’s Share Your Harvest community service program.
“Fresh fruits and vegetables are an incredibly important part of what we offer at Hopelink,” said Adam Fleischer, food bank coordinator. “Without the donations of fresh produce, we are only able to offer the very basic staples like potatoes, onions and oranges. It is ideal when we are able to offer a variety, and that’s what we can do with donated produce.”
Participating is easy! Simply plant an extra row or a couple of plants during planting season and then in August and September harvest your herbs, fruit and vegetables and drop them off at Molbak’s. You can participate as an individual or team up with friends, social groups or community gardens.
